    Just an FYI for anyone interested. You don't have to get an expensive olympus camera for this to work. These past days I've been testing this feature on my EM10 (yes, the mark i), and I was amazed by the results. Of course, it'd be better to just shoot at the desired mm, but this was significantly better than cropping it, and I'm still scratching my head about it.

    Interesting that you (and many others) wear a suit to photograph Barn Owls. I've never had the need as I've always been led to believe that they are going to see you regardless so trying to hide is probably going to freak them out! That said I haven't seen our local Barn Owls much this year either! Perhaps like me they are fed up with the constant rain! 😅

    • @Wildmanrouse
      @Wildmanrouse 12 дней назад

      Depends what I am doing. I am out for roe deer as well, hence the suit as for that at this time of the year it's essential. And the suit creates interest, it's different so they are inquisitive and come to look. So they don't get freaked out and I wouldn't wear it if it a) wasn't useful for what I do and b) if it freaked them out. I don't always wear it for them either, sometimes I just shoot from the shadows as well

    Nice to see a video from you in my subscription feed, Andy! Do you find you need a season appropriate ghillie suit, or does a green one work for most of the year (aside from winter perhaps)? I've thought about getting one for wildlife photography in Derbyshire, just wondering if one will do or might need several.

    • @Wildmanrouse
      @Wildmanrouse 12 дней назад

      Well we don't do much on here anymore as our Patreon membership gets everything now. For this video they got an extended edition with more hints and tips and that will continue. But am happy to put this public one out here as I know I have a fair few fans on youtube. Sounds weird I know but the ghillie is only useful if you need it. I really only use it for roe deer when I am in an environment when it's essential, sometimes I just shoot from the shadows and it's not. It's not an invisibility cloak so how you act in it, and how you deal with smell, shape, shine etc is just as vital. I have a single green one which for my habitat works well.

    my Sony A7R2 also has a similar feature where the camera will give me 2 pictures one crop and one original. I don't recall such features on my A6400. may be because my A7R2 has 40MP to do the cropping. and important thing is the subject is still in the center, so it knows where the crop.

    Hi Andy, great video by the way. Just wondering, currently i have the 300mm F4 PRO and am getting the most out of it on every widlife shooting. I have been doing photgraphy for just over a year now so am still learning across the board. I was looking to either invest into the 150-400 f/4.5 int he next 6 months or so. Do you think it is worth taking the 150-600mm instead, having previously shot with the 300mm? I understand that it is a bit of difficult question to answer because there are many factors involved in this, but overall i am just looking for some insight and how to spend my money in the best way possible. I know you cannot go wrong with the 150-400, it is a cracking lens and have borrowed it a couple of times for usage. Absolutely phenomenal to be honest. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated!

    It’s not just ISO number. It’s how much camera sensor will have to compensate between 6400 iso and given lighting conditions. If you shoot dark football field on Friday night with 1/1000 SS with 6400 or 8000 iso you’ll see the camera struggles. If you expose your image to bright sky while shooting BIF, you’ll find unrecoverable shadows at iso 800!! Take it easy with your excitement. The camera is good but people should know it’s limitations..

    • @Wildmanrouse

      I find that the limitations are with a photographer's imagination and negativity. That's what usually lets images down.

    So isn’t the digital teleconverter essentially the same as cropping the image to get the same view?? I’m not grasping the advantage other than the teleconverter lets you see your composition prior to taking the picture.

    I’ve just bought a new MacBook M3 (my 13yr old one finally died…it did me well and paid for itself ten fold…). I’ve been using my iPad Pro but of course PS for iPad doesn’t have denoise AI….so imaging my absolute joy at trying it for the first time yesterday on some wedding photos in RAW (the photos have already been processed and given to the happy couple)……it’s an absolute game changer for low light (especially inside a church where flash and shutter noise are a no no, I use a OM-D E1mkii nowadays after moving from Nikon…) I’m completely blown away by the sharpness and lack of noise, and arty mono images look even better!…..this is the second piece of tech you have introduced me too Andy, the first being the digital teleconverter which I initially dismissed but after trying it because of your advice I have more tools in my arsenal (no…not THAT Arsenal 🤣) thanks Andy……away to Northumberland tomorrow and the Farnes again so new tools, new art to make!

    I only just found your channel Andy, and I am very glad I did. This is golden. This video is the last push I needed to get an OM-1. I've been on the fence all the time because of the FF talk and the so called worse performance of a smaller sensor. Your images are stunning, and they truly motivate me to get out making pictures and spending time in nature. As for lenses. What is your primary lens? I also shoot fine JPEGs as standard as never really needed raw images for most of my end requirements. Just tested in on my EM-1 Mkiii - works brilliantly on the 90mm macro, the 100-400mm & the 40-150mm F4 Pro lens. Which can also use the 2 teleconverters in mentioned earlier.

    K čemu je toto reálně použitelné? Ten objektiv má v přepočtu clony proti FF na výsledné fotografii bokeh rovný f12.6 a stojí jako objektiv na FF který má poloviční hodnotu (f6,3) clony 😂 na čipu o třikrát větší hustotě tranzistorů a výrazně vyšším DR. Tohle je hodně odvážný tah od OM System, když už mám fotit na 4/3 budu si už kvůli přepočtu výsledné světelnosti snažit používat objektivy s co nejlepší světelností a ne naopak a jestli za to někomu stojí to ohnisko, tak už bych si za ty peníze koupil hvězdářský dalekohled. To sklo má na delší vzdálenosti asi kilometr hloubku ostrosti, nehledě na to, že za o něco horších světelných podmínek z toho polezou fotky v dramatické kvalitě, vzhledem k snášenlivosti vyšších ISO hodnot a m43. Za mě, pokud to někdo chce, ať si to koupí, nicméně smysl mi to nedává a cena? Ta je úplně mimo, ale OM System je poslední dobou hodně mimo. Jako první vydá nový makro objektiv zase na m43 a za opět šílenou cenu je z převážné části plastový. Pak přijde s “novým” tělem které vlastně dostalo jen vylepšený software a má pouze rebrandovanou značku a nestydí si za tyto drobné vylepšení říct částku rovnou novému fotoaparátu a další je tahle černá díra za cenu pevného skla.

    Holy Crap! Those photos are freeking gorgeous. My OM-1 mark ii arrived yesterday. This isn't my first foray into MFT's but this time I am committed to figuring it out and making it work. If more of the RUclipsrs talking about MFT had photos like yours, OM would be the dominate brand. Subscribed. Do you have any videos on how you develop your photos in photoshop?
